要約:In the period from 1989 to 1930, the regions of the Gulf of Mexico registered a great demographic, commercial and industrial growth. In particular, Tampico and its surrounding counties played an important role in foreign trade and in agricultural and oil activities in Mexico. Upon reaching its peak, the city-port of Tamaulipas and its regional scope were among the main extractive, refining and oil exporting areas on the planet. The book that the reader has in his hands describes the evolution and fundamental characteristics of this process and the specific role that corresponded to its main protagonists and beneficiaries: the great Buenos Aires merchants and the American and British corporations established in the locality. The analysis culminates with an evaluation of the impact of this growth on the social, commercial and environmental structures of Tampico.
