| Resumo: | We conducted a study in a submontane scrub area of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, collecting insects in quadrants of 100 m2 with a net and striking. During the study period (February 2008 to January 2009) 9228 specimens belonging to 14 orders were collected, being the Hemiptera, Coleoptera and the Diptera the most abundantant, with 44.23%, 24.47% and 9.78% respectively while the order Odonata was the least abundant, with 0.01%. The site with the highest abundance and density was the one that corresponded to disturbed vegetation, with 5413 individuals and insects 0.6766 m2. During the fall months came the higher incidence of insects, Diptera where collected, with a density of 0,657 individuals per m2. There were statistical differences between vegetation types and seasons of the year, the seasonal and the food available to insects was crucial for regulating their abundance and density. |
