Its territory is made up of arid and semi-arid zones. 52% of the total area of ??its territory has less than 400 millimeters of annual average rainfall; The majority of the population that lives in this area lives in extreme poverty, with high levels of marginalization, where productive activities take place, among which caprinoculture stands out.Goats are a species that because of its rusticity and good production have managed to adapt to inhospitable places, difficult to access and with water and forage limitations; This activity has been able to support the inhabitants of the arid areas for decades, by producing milk and meat, but still the producers have not managed to transcend to better living standards. Among the different problems are the structural and idiosyncrasy of the producers. Goat producers have been supported with programs to develop their activity, however, they are of assistance, so it is necessary to implement programs that involve a strategy of business and productive development to make this activity more competitive. México es un país con una gran variedad de ecosistemas y una gran diversidad biológica, su heterogeneidad se refleja en la fauna, flora, clima, orografía, y en las diversas actividades económicas que desarrolla su población en los diferentes ecosistemas. Su territorio está conformado por zonas áridas y semiáridas. El 52% de la superficie total de su territorio tiene menos de 400 milímetros de precipitación promedio anual; la mayoría de la población que habita en dicha superficie vive en pobreza extrema, con grados de marginación altos, donde se desarrollan actividades productivas, entre la que destaca la caprinocultura.Los caprinos son una especie que por su rusticidad y buena producción han logrado adaptarse a lugares inhóspitos, de difícil acceso y con limitantes de agua y forraje; esta actividad ha logrado dar sustento por décadas a los habitantes de las zonas áridas, al producir leche y carne, pero aun así los productores no han conseguido trascender a mejores niveles de vida. Entre los diferentes problemas están los estructurales y de idiosincrasia de los productores. Los productores de caprinos han sido apoyados con programas para desarrollar su actividad, sin embargo, son de corte asistencial, por lo que es necesario implementar programas que conlleven una estrategia de desarrollo empresarial y productiva para hacer esta actividad más competitiva.
