In Mexico, Cryptini includes 12 subtribes, 50 genera and about 300 species. Part I includes the review of 8 subtribes and 32 genera. In the first 40 pages, the general data on adult mortology and immature states of ichneumonides and, in more detail, trophic chains and the economic importance of Cryptini are indicated; the general directions in their biological evolution are distinguished and the peculiarities of the fauna of this tribe in Mexico are compared with the Nertic fauna. In the taxonomic part, keys for the subtribes, genera and 150 species were elaborated; 3 genera and 44 new species are described. For all the Mexican species mentioned, bibliography, synonyms, type data, materials examined and their distribution are included. It contains 221 illustrations and 214 bibliographic citations.     En este libro se estudia la tribu Cryptini, un grupo importante de insectos entomófagos y uno de los mas grandes y notables de ichneumonidos que, como parasitoides de otros insectos, juegan un papel relevante en la estabilización de la biocenosis continental. En México, Cryptini incluye 12 subtribus, 50 géneros y cerca de 300 especies. La Parte I incluye la revisión de 8 subtribus y 32 géneros. En las primeras 40 páginas se indican los datos generales de la mortología del adulto y de los estados inmaduros de los ichneumonidos y, en mas detalle, las cadenas tróficas y la importancia económica de Cryptini; se distinguen las direcciones generales en su evolución biológica y se comparan las particularidades de la fauna de esta tribu en México con la fauna neártica, En la parte taxonómica se elaboraron claves para las subtribus, géneros y 150 especies; se describen 3 géneros y 44 especies nuevas. Para todas las especies mexicanas citadas, se incluye la bibliografía, sinónimos, datos de los tipos, materiales examinados y su distribución. Contiene 221 ilustraciones y 214 citas bibliográficas.
