Summary: | In this book, the Cryptini tribe is studied, an important group of entomophageal insects and one of the largest and most notable of ichneumonids that, like parasitoids of other insects, play an important role in the stabilization of continental biocenosis. In Mexico, Cryptini includes 12 subtribes, 50 genera and about 300 species. Part I includes the review of 8 subtribes and 32 genera. In the first 40 pages, the general data on adult mortology and immature states of ichneumonides and, in more detail, trophic chains and the economic importance of Cryptini are indicated; the general directions in their biological evolution are distinguished and the peculiarities of the fauna of this tribe in Mexico are compared with the Nertic fauna. In the taxonomic part, keys for the subtribes, genera and 150 species were elaborated; 3 genera and 44 new species are described. For all the Mexican species mentioned, bibliography, synonyms, type data, materials examined and their distribution are included. It contains 221 illustrations and 214 bibliographic citations.
