That is to say, it deals with the aspects that are subjectively apprehensible by means of an integration in those processes that are not susceptible of being measured in terms of frequency. The ideographic character of the data, the inductive logic and the subjectivism inherent to qualitative research do not conform to the basic foundations of the scientific method. However, the search for the particularity of social phenomena is compatible with the generation of generalizable explanations; the work of theoretical construction does not imply that the researcher is captive to the analytic categories, and objectivity also emerges from a plural reality where the truth is provisional. The book Qualitative Research Manual explores the basic characteristics of the scientific method; describes the stages of the investigation process; addresses the strategy of analysis of discursive data and explains how to transform raw data into a finished product; analyzes the phases of the saturation process of the discursive differences gathered in the research process and addresses the problem of the generalization of the results; describes the strategies to follow to ensure the rigor of qualitative research, and finally, examines the aspects that involve the main qualitative techniques of data collection. La investigación cualitativa examina de forma profunda un reducido número de casos para explorar de forma detallada procesos o contextos específicos, para comprender en profundidad un fenómeno social concreto, o para entender cómo las personas conciben, perciben o narran sus situaciones cotidianas. Es decir, se ocupa de los aspectos que son subjetivamente aprehensibles por medio de un adrentramiento en aquellos procesos que no son susceptibles de ser medidos en términos de frecuencia. El carácter ideográfico de los datos, la lógica inductiva y el subjetivismo inherente a la investigación cualitativa no se ajustan a los fundamentos básicos del método científico. Sin embargo, la búsqueda de la particularidad de los fenómenos sociales es compatible con la generación de explicaciones generalizables; la labor de construcción teórica no implica que el investigador sea cautivo de las categorías analíticas, y la objetividad también emerge de una realidad plural donde la verdad es provisional. El libro Manual de investigación cualitativa explora las características básicas del método científico; describe las etapas del proceso de investigación; aborda la estrategia de análisis de los datos discursivos y explica cómo transformar los datos brutos en un producto terminado; analiza las fases del proceso de saturación de las diferencias discursivas recabadas en el proceso investigador y aborda el problema de la generalización de los resultados; describe las estrategias a seguir para asegurar el rigor de la investigación cualitativa, y finalmente, examina los aspectos que envuelven las principales técnicas cualitativas de recogida de datos.
