The book presents an innovative proposal to assist in the resolution of the problems related to the negative impact on vegetation and soil, farms in the ecosystems of the Tamaulipas savannah. For this purpose, it is necessary to consider the savannah as a natural tropical pasture and understand its operation, in order to establish a correct model of livestock use, according to its potential, available natural resources and the socioeconomic environment where it is developed, and thereby encourage the cattle activity in the region is profitable and of lasting character. En esta obra se proponen métodos y técnicas que permiten adentrarse sin complicaciones en el conocimiento, caracterización y clasificación de la sabana y presenta un estudio de caso en la cuenca Soto La Marina, en el estado de Tamaulipas, México. El libro presenta una propuesta innovadora para coadyudar en la resolución de la problemática relativa al impacto negativo que ejercen sobre la vegetación y el suelo, las explotaciones ganaderas en los ecosistemas de la sabana tamaulipeca. Para tal propósito se requiere considerar a la sabana como un pastizal natural tropical y entender su funcionamiento, para poder establecer un modelo correcto de aprovechamiento ganadero, acorde a sus potencialidades, recursos naturales disponibles y el entorno socioeconómico donde se desarrolla, y con ello propiciar que la actividad ganadera en la región sea redituable y de carácter perdurable.
