Its elaboration required an arduous information systematization company previously produced, as well as new research who sought to represent the best possible variety of plant associations of a characterized region for its high environmental complexity. Valley of Tehuacán-Cuicatlán presents a great variety of dry, warm subhumid and temperate climate types subhumid It also has a varied composition of rocks on its surface, including rocks sedimentary (limestones, sandstones, shales) and in minor proportion of volcanic and metamorphic rocks, as well as very different landforms and reliefs. Everyone these factors as a whole influence to conform a complex mosaic of distributed vegetation variants in the space. La presente obra es una síntesis descriptiva de las comunidades vegetales del Valle de Tehuacán-Cuicatlán y aspira a ser una guía útil para distinguir y caracterizar la vegetación de esta región. Su elaboración requirió una ardua empresa de sistematización de información producida previamente, así como de nuevas investigaciones que buscaron representar lo mejor posible la variedad de asociaciones vegetales de una región caracterizada por su alta complejidad ambiental. El Valle de Tehuacán-Cuicatlán presenta una gran variedad de tipos climáticos secos, cálidos subhúmedos y templados subhúmedos. También presenta una variada composición de rocas en su superficie, incluyendo rocas sedimentarias (calizas, areniscas, lutitas) y en menor proporción rocas volcánicas y metamórficas, así como muy diferentes formas de relieve y de suelos. Todos estos factores en su conjunto influyen para conformar un complejo mosaico de variantes de vegetación distribuido en el espacio.
