This case is particularly relevant due to the media's interest that it generated, and since it allows to realize a critical analysis of the way that the right to the due process is determined in the Mexican legal system. Este artículo revisa desde la teoría y la jurisprudencia las situaciones experimentadas por el señor Rafael Méndez Valenzuela, quien estuvo detenido y sometido a proceso a lo largo de casi 13 años, durante los cuales habría sufrido diversas violaciones a derechos humanos. Su caso resulta de particular relevancia por el interés mediático que generó, y porque permite realizar un análisis crítico de la manera en que se concreta el derecho al debido proceso en el sistema jurídico mexicano.
