This study analyzes and measures from a gender perspective, the politcal participation of women in a pre-electoral context; explores five print media of Tamaulipas to visualize women in political activities and their informative treatment. For the quantitative study, data was collected from January 13 to February 11, 2018. The data correspond to nort, center and siuth of Tamaulipas and, was taken a non-probabilistic simple. From the results obtained, the frequency anda space where women are protagonist of news was evaluated. It´s based on the hypothesis that the publications of the printed mediaof the political participation of women in the pre-campaign period anda electoral campaign are limited ti permeate journalistic activities to give voice and image with equity. Los avances en la participación política de las mujeres, han sido lentos, pero, las elecciones en México el 1º de julio del 2018, fueron históricas; por primera vez, se alcanzó paridad de género en la Cámara de Diputados y Senadores, ello, se atribuye a las acciones políticas – electorales emprendidas desde el 2014, que dieron origen a reformas trascendentales. Este estudio analiza y mide con perspectiva de género, la participación política de las mujeres en un contexto preelectoral; explora cinco medios impresos de Tamaulipas para visualizar a las mujeres en actividades políticas y su tratamiento informativo. Para el estudio cuantitativo se recolectaron datos del 13 de enero al 11 de febrero de 2018. Los datos corresponden a la zona norte, centro y sur de Tamaulipas y se tomó una muestra no probabilística. De los resultados obtenidos se evaluó la frecuencia y espacio en donde las mujeres son protagonistas de noticias. Se parte de la hipótesis que, son limitadas o escasas las publicaciones de los medios impresos de la participación política de las mujeres en periodo de pre campaña y campaña electoral; la perspectiva de género, no ha logrado permear en las actividades periodísticas para dar voz e imagen con equidad.
