Summary:The progress in te politicar participation of women ha ben slow, bet the elections in Mexico on July 1, 2018, were historic; for the first time, gender partity was achieved in the Camber of Deputies and Senators, this is attributed to political-electoral actions undertaken since 2014, which gave rise to far-reaching reforms. This study analyzes and measures from a gender perspective, the politcal participation of women in a pre-electoral context; explores five print media of Tamaulipas to visualize women in political activities and their informative treatment. For the quantitative study, data was collected from January 13 to February 11, 2018. The data correspond to nort, center and siuth of Tamaulipas and, was taken a non-probabilistic simple. From the results obtained, the frequency anda space where women are protagonist of news was evaluated. It´s based on the hypothesis that the publications of the printed mediaof the political participation of women in the pre-campaign period anda electoral campaign are limited ti permeate journalistic activities to give voice and image with equity.
