This article presents the results of a study that aimed to analyze euthanasia and the need for its legal regulation in Mexico. The methodology used was documentary, based on the bibliographic and legislative review, followed by a detailed analysis of the concentrated information. Among the main results, a comparative analysis of euthanasia and the regulatory systems of countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, the United States and Mexico is presented. Also, a detailed analysis of the federal regulation of approved advance directives. La eutanasia es actualmente un tema de preocupación mundial y de interés académico en distintas áreas del conocimiento humano. Desde el derecho, la eutanasia legalizada otorga el poder al personal médico o de los servicios de salud, de poner fin directamente a la vida de las personas en condiciones especialmente dependientes. El presente artículo expone los resultados de un estudio que tuvo por objetivo analizar a la eutanasia y la necesidad de su regulación jurídica en México. La metodología utilizada fue documental, basada en la revisión bibliográfica y legisgráfica, seguida de un análisis detallado de la información concentrada. Dentro de los principales resultados se expone un análisis comparativo de la eutanasia y los sistemas normativos de países como Holanda, Suiza, Australia, Estados Unidos y México. Así también, un análisis detallado de la regulación federal de la voluntad anticipada homologada.
