Description
Summary:This work deals with urban water management in Tamaulipas. The objective is to make an introductory analysis of that management, trying to identify current particularities in relation to previous administrations. Data from the Population and Housing Censuses and Counts of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) from 2000 to 2020 and from the 2015 Intercensal Survey were reviewed; the data was grouped by region, according to the regionalization of the National Institute for Federalism and Municipal Development (INAFED). Water management indicators from the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA) were consulted: micro measurement, physical efficiency, commercial efficiency and global efficiency; on water sources, purification and water extraction, from the National Water Commission (CONGUA) and INEGI and other secondary sources. The results indicate that withdrawals for drinking water have increased, more so in the Frontera region; in a context of high resource pressure in the Río Bravo region. And investments in water have decreased both in the country and in the State. More than differences between administrations, there is a continuity in the coverage of water, in the pressure for the liquid and in the inefficiency in its management.
