With a comparative analysis of pre- and post-pandemic tourism figures from international and national organizations, it details the areas of opportunity of how tourism activity has been developing in Mexico and the world and how it has influenced the change in the environment where is carried out and how this can be affected by the new lifestyle of the post-pandemic traveler, as well as the changes that tourist activity has had in this restrictive period and how it must be coped with for the future of tourism. El constante incremento de turistas que se desplazan a nivel mundial ha hecho que los gobiernos de cada país trabajen de manera permanente y cada vez más específica en materia turística para poder tener una mejor gestión de la afluencia de visitantes en los lugares, esto con el objetivo de poder controlar el uso de recursos naturales y su manejo sustentable para atender las necesidades de los habitantes, pues la inminente escasez de elementos vitales para la supervivencia tal como el agua o el cambio climático tan acelerado de los últimos años es un tema cada vez más delicado y de urgencia a tratar. Con un análisis comparativo de las cifras del turismo pre y pos-pandemia de organismos internacionales y nacionales, se detalla las áreas de oportunidad de como se ha ido desarrollando la actividad turística en México y el mundo y como ha influido en el cambio del entorno donde se lleva a cabo y cómo esto puede verse afectado por el nuevo estilo de vida del viajero pos-pandemia, así también los cambios que ha tenido la actividad turística en este lapso restrictivo y como se deberá sobrellevar para el futuro del turismo.
