Within the framework of the New Water Management, management indicators were reviewed: physical, commercial, global efficiencies, and other statistical data. Two interviews were conducted with managers of the local water system (SIMAS). Among the results we have that of the drinking water that is produced, an average 46 percent is wasted and in 2021 it is 50 percent, 81 percent of the billed water is charged; social participation in water management is reduced to the involvement of representatives of local chambers in the SIMAS Board of Directors. And withdrawals from the source of supply, the Rio Grande, have increased. Thus, it is necessary to make a more efficient management and use of water and service to minimize the pressure on that supply source. El objetivo del artículo es brindar un panorama de la gestión del agua potable en Acuña, Coahuila, enfatizando en la eficiencia en el manejo del agua. En el marco de la Nueva Gestión del Agua, se revisaron indicadores de gestión: eficiencias física, comercial, global, y otros datos estadísticos. Se realizaron dos entrevistas a directivos del sistema de agua local (SIMAS). Entre los resultados se tiene que del agua potable que se produce se desperdicia en promedio el 46 por ciento y en 2021 es el 50 por ciento, se cobra el 81 por ciento de la facturada; la participación social en la gestión del agua se reduce al involucramiento de representantes de cámaras locales en el Consejo de Administración de SIMAS. Y las extracciones de la fuente de abasto, el río Bravo, han aumentado. Así, es necesario hacer un manejo y uso más eficientes del agua y del servicio para minimizar la presión sobre dicha fuente.
