Sumario:The objective of the article is to provide an overview of drinking water management in Acuña, Coahuila, and emphasizing efficiency in water management. Within the framework of the New Water Management, management indicators were reviewed: physical, commercial, global efficiencies, and other statistical data. Two interviews were conducted with managers of the local water system (SIMAS). Among the results we have that of the drinking water that is produced, an average 46 percent is wasted and in 2021 it is 50 percent, 81 percent of the billed water is charged; social participation in water management is reduced to the involvement of representatives of local chambers in the SIMAS Board of Directors. And withdrawals from the source of supply, the Rio Grande, have increased. Thus, it is necessary to make a more efficient management and use of water and service to minimize the pressure on that supply source.
