Summary:It’s important to start by stating that when a custodial sentence is imposed, what is sought is to ensure that the sentenced person is prevented from subsequently executing criminal actions. Indeed, the concept of punishment evolves in terms of the meaning attributed to it. This is due to the social, political, and economic context in which the norms establish the means for the fulfillment of the functions in the prison systems, mainly in the protection of human rights. This underlines that the penalties and security measures imposed by the codes require further careful analysis in the scope of their assessment. Therefore, in this article it’s considered decisive to analyze the current state of the social reinsertion system in Mexico, enunciating the main aspects in the management of penitentiary centers that make it difficult to access the purpose of integrating people who have graduated from the justice system to their community, in stable conditions. By way of conclusion, it’s observed that one of the greatest mistakes lies in the omission of requiring trained personnel and working in interdisciplinarity in matters that involve the containment of crime, from the institutions arranged for such objects.
