The applied methodology was a case study with a qualitative and descriptive approach. The contribution is to generate knowledge; prove, contrast and explain the praxis made inside the analysis unit, with the purpose of having a diagnosis that can transform the process of decision making. The free access tool on the Internet offered by Secretaría de Economía en México was applied to Hospital Civil de Culiacán located in Culiacán, Sinaloa, México. Strengths were identified such as: established organization chart, highly qualified and committed staff. In contrast, problems were detected in the areas of finance and human resources, due the communication barriers, the lack of training programs and financial analysis and planning. A series of measures are proposed to improve and strengthen the management of financial, material, human and technological resources. El diagnóstico organizacional es un análisis integral que evalúa las áreas que inciden en el logro de objetivos estratégicos dentro de un contexto actual. La metodología aplicada fue un estudio de caso con enfoque cualitativo y descriptivo. Su aporte es proporcionar conocimientos; comprobar, contrastar y explicar las prácticas realizadas dentro de la unidad de análisis, con el fin de contar con un diagnóstico que permita transformar el proceso de toma de decisiones. Se aplicó la herramienta de libre acceso en Internet ofrecida por la Secretaría de Economía en México al Hospital Civil de Culiacán ubicado en Culiacán, Sinaloa, México. Se identificaron fortalezas como: organigrama establecido, personal altamente calificado y comprometido. En contraste, se detectaron problemas en las áreas de finanzas y recursos humanos, debido a las barreras de comunicación, la falta de análisis y planeación financiera, así como programas de capacitación. Se proponen una serie de medidas para mejorar y fortalecer la gestión de recursos financieros, materiales, humanos y tecnológicos.
