To this end, it was necessary to use multivariate statistical techniques to reduce a set of selected indicators to a single index that explains almost all the information contained in the original indicators. In addition, the results of the index are compared with the classification technique of hierarchical clusters, multidimensional scaling analysis and then an evaluation is made applying regional analysis techniques. The practical application of this work was carried out taking into account the information from the states of the North Central Region of Mexico in the period 2012-2017, which demonstrated the practical feasibility of this type of analysis. As a result of the analysis, a set of valid conclusions was reached for the use of this type of techniques for evaluation in the states. El presente trabajo persigue como objetivo general determinar un índice sintético de desarrollo económico local que permita evaluar el desarrollo económico de los estados de la Región Centronorte de México. Para lo cual fue necesario el uso de técnicas de estadística multivariable para la reducción de un conjunto de indicadores seleccionados a un índice único que explique casi toda la información contenida en los indicadores originales. Además se compara los resultados del índice con la técnica de clasificación conglomerados jerárquicos, análisis de escalamiento multidimensional y luego se hace una evaluación aplicando técnicas de análisis regional. La aplicación práctica de este trabajo se realizó teniendo en cuenta la información de los estados de la Región Centronorte de México en el periodo 2012-2017 lo cual demostró la factibilidad práctica de este tipo de análisis.
