The tourism industry is one of the main economic activities worldwide. Currently the problem of human resources that affects these sector it has been forgotten, the results show that no attention is paid to the processes of growth and development of personnel and this causes problems of motivation, turnover, poor service, and therefore a bad workplace environment, having a very attractive area of opportunity from a business perspective. La presente investigación tiene la finalidad de mostrar las tendencias y prácticas actuales en cuanto a la administración de los recursos humanos que se observan en el sector hotelero en el área metropolitana de la ciudad de Monterrey. La industria turística es una de las principales actividades económicas a nivel mundial. Actualmente la problemática de recursos humanos que afecta al sector hotelero es olvidada, los resultados encontrados muestran que no se pone atención a los procesos de crecimiento y desarrollo de personal y esto causa problemas de motivación, rotación de personal, mal servicio, y por consiguiente un mal ambiente de trabajo, teniendo un área de oportunidad muy atractiva desde la perspectiva de negocios.
