This study measured the attitude towards science, experience and reading habits in printed and electronic texts of upper level students. The results indicate that students have a positive attitude towards science (63.35%). 36% of respondents consider that they have read more at the higher level than in previous stages; the abandonment of reading is explained by the lack of time (48.7%). 64.8% see themselves as good readers. 55% admit having to read a text twice to understand its content. 47.4% attend the library only when they need a book. 27% read a book per year. They do not read newspapers or magazines. 77% have internet at home, 91% have a personal computer (91%) and 99% have a smartphone. Data reflect the attitude toward science, reading practices are listed. Research is proposed to improve reading skills and the writing of scientific texts. La lectura es una actividad imprescindible para la formación científica sin embargo el desarrollo de habilidades lectoras puede ser poco importante para los estudiantes universitarios quienes no acostumbran analizar textos de manera crítica además de hacer poco uso de las fuentes bibliográficas. Este estudio midió la actitud hacia la ciencia, experiencia y hábitos de lectura en textos impresos y electrónicos de alumnos de nivel superior. Los resultados señalan que los estudiantes tienen una actitud positiva hacia la ciencia (63.35%). El 36% de los encuestados considera que han leído más en el nivel superior que en etapas previas; el abandono de la lectura lo explican por la falta de tiempo (48.7%). 64.8% se ven a sí mismos como buenos lectores. 55% admite tener que leer dos veces un texto para comprender su contenido. 47.4% asiste a la biblioteca solo cuando necesita un libro. El 27% lee un libro al año. No leen periódicos ni revistas. El 77% dispone de internet en casa, 91% posee una computadora personal (91%) y 99% tiene un smartphone. Se enumeran datos que reflejan la actitud hacia la ciencia, las prácticas de lectura. Se plantean investigaciones para mejorar las competencias lectoras y la escritura de textos científicos.
