The mission of these organisms is related to the training of professionals that are required in developing nations. Hence the importance of the performance of universities in the area of governance, to be active stakeholders in university management. The transformation of state-society relationship has been interfered in the restructuring of institutions in higher education, it is demanded by quality research and the need to care for the new public management to provide a solid foundation of leadership. This content analysis examines how higher education institutions are based on the set of reforms in the governability relationship to governance, and what advantages exist in the new public management Al ser las instituciones de educación superior organizaciones que cuentan con el privilegio de insertarse en lo social y cultural de cualquier país, se produce un círculo que permite conocer las demandas de la sociedad. La misión de estos organismos está relacionada con la formación de profesionales que son requeridos en el desarrollo de las naciones. De ahí la importancia que tiene la actuación de las universidades en el ámbito de la gobernabilidad, al ser actores activos dentro de la gestión universitaria. La transformación de la relación Estado-sociedad ha tenido injerencia en la reestructuración de las instituciones de educación superior, por ello se demanda calidad en la investigación y se tiene que arropar la nueva gestión pública para poder constituir una base sólida de liderazgo. En este análisis de contenido se indaga cómo las instituciones de educación superior parten del juego de las reformas, en la relación gobernanza-gobernabilidad, y qué aportación existe de la nueva gestión pública.
