In the context where this research was carried out, the Natural Protected Area of Xochimilco and San Gregorio Atlapulco Ejidos in Mexico City, this pattern is repeated. There are a very small number of studies on Xochimilco’s channel microalgae and no research of this nature has been carried out in San Gregorio Atlapulco. The aim of this work was to develop an inventory of microalgae Xochimilco and San Gregorio Atlapulco canals. In of the case of Xochimilco, a comprehensive review of literature related to microalgae studies ranging from January 1933 to December 2014 was conducted. Since there were no previous studies in the case of San Gregorio Atlapulco, sampling was conducted in January 2013 in 17 stations distributed throughout the area with a trawl net of 54 μm mesh size and a van Dorn bottle. The samples were preserved with formalin 4 % and 1 % lugol respectively, obtaining a total of 34 samples. A list of 370 species of microalgae were obtained for all the Natural Protected Area from which 36% belong to Chlorophytes; 24 % Euglenophytes; 24 % Diatoms; 12 % belong Cianoprocariotas, 3 % Dinoflagellates, and 1 % Cromofitas, 27 new records for San Gregorio Atlapulco. Among the species recorded, Microcystis aeruginosa and Peridinium willei produce toxic algal blooms, therefore it is necessary to monitor these species and ecosystems to prevent its potential harmful effects, besides continuing ficofloristics studies of the region. Archive XML (SciELO)

En la zona de estudio, Área Natural Protegida Ejidos de Xo­chimilco y San Gregorio Atlapul­co, Ciudad de México, este es­quema se repite, encontrándose pocos trabajos sobre las microal­gas de los canales de Xochimilco y ninguno sobre San Gregorio Atlapulco. El objetivo del pre­sente trabajo fue elaborar un in­ventario de las microalgas de los canales de estas dos áreas. Para el caso de Xochimilco, se hizo una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva, que abarcó de enero de 1933 a diciembre de 2014. Para el caso de San Gregorio Atlapulco, de­bido a que no había estudios previos, se realizó un muestreo en enero del 2013 en 17 estacio­nes distribuidas en toda la zona, con una red de arrastre de aber­tura de malla de 54 μm y con una botella van Dorn. Las muestras se preservaron con formalina al 4 % y con lugol al 1% respectiva­mente, obteniendo un total de 34 muestras. Se generó un listado de 370 especies de microalgas para toda el Área Natural Protegida, de las cuales, 36 % pertenecieron a Clorofitas; 24 % a Euglenofitas; 24 % a Diatomeas, 12 % a Ciano­procariotas, 3 % a Dinoflagelados y 1 % a Cromofitas, con 27 nuevos registros para San Gregorio Atlapul­co.
