In order to determine the current status of the Mexican business incubators a descriptive study has been conducted, starting with presenting a description of the history of business incubators, existing names, characteristics and types of business incubators. Subsequently, in a very general way, we present information on the supply of business incubators in Mexico, its typology and chronological development. La incubación de negocios es un proceso de apoyo para la creación de empresas o para el desarrollo exitoso de las empresas de reciente creación. Es por ello que su estudio ha tomado importancia entre la comunidad académica y científica. El interés por las incubadoras de negocios ha sido tal que se ha expandido a la mayoría de los países del mundo, entre ellos México. Con la finalidad de conocer el estado actual de las incubadoras de negocios mexica­nas se ha llevado a cabo un estudio descriptivo, presentando de inicio una descripción de los antecedentes de las incubadoras de negocios, las denominaciones existentes, características y tipos de incubadoras de negocios. Posterior­mente, de una manera muy general, se presen­ta información sobre la oferta de incubadoras de negocios en México, su tipología y desarrollo cronológico.
