Tamaulipas is a state that is in a nationally important area, privileged with industrial and economic growth. This favors the incidence of kidnapping, considered a felony, as typifies our criminal procedure for attacking fundamental human value. At the national level it is a crime that must be stopped, using all means that the government has at its disposal. This study focuses on the analysis of the incidence of kidnapping in the state of Tamaulipas in the period between 2005- 2010. Information was obtained from the preliminary investigations undertaken in the Attorney General of the State of Tamaulipas and the Unit for Kidnapping Combat in the state. The kidnapping has a greater presence in the towns of Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Tampico and Matamoros, the predominant type of kidnapping in the state is the common type, followed by organized crime, in addition, males appear as the primary victim and the most common age range of 18 to 40 years. We conclude that in the state of Tamaulipas border cities have higher incidence of kidnapping in the years between 2005-2010. Tamaulipas es un estado que se encuentra en una zona importante a nivel nacional, lo que le otorga un privilegio para el crecimiento industrial y económico. Esto favorece la incidencia del delito de secuestro, considerado como un delito grave, según lo tipifica nuestra ley procesal penal, por atacar valores fundamentales del ser humano. En el ámbito nacional se trata de un delito que debe frenarse, aplicando todos los medios que el Gobierno tenga a su alcance. Este estudio se enfoca en el análisis de la incidencia del delito de secuestro en el estado de Tamaulipas en el periodo 2005-2010. Se consultaron y se obtuvo información de las averiguaciones previas iniciadas en la Procuraduría General de Justicia del Estado de Tamaulipas y en la Unidad de Combate al Secuestro en el estado. El delito de secuestro cuenta con una mayor presencia en los municipios de Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Tampico y Matamoros; el tipo de secuestro que predomina en el estado es el de tipo común, seguido por el de delincuencia organizada; además, el sexo masculino aparece como principal víctima y el rango de edad más frecuente es el de 18-40 años. En el estado de Tamaulipas, los municipios fronterizos cuentan con mayor incidencia del delito de secuestro en los años 2005-2010.
