Mexico’s and Morocco’s geopolitical position of as border countries between the north and the global south has transformed them into two strategic countries for two main factors: the intense flux of transnational of capital from the United States and the European Union and their role as laboratories where multinationals have implemented security policies, aimed at containing threats that can undermine the global north. In the regional context, the immigration safety policies of that that are in place in Morocco and Mexico, enables us to outline the geoeconomic processes, transnational relations and transnational policies between the north and the global south. This research analyzed the effects of immigration safety policies implemented in recent years in the Mexico-US and Morocco-Spain-European Union borders. Results show a common trend based on securitization and the undermining of migrant and refugee population’s freedom and rights. Archive XML (SciELO) La posición geopolítica de México y Marruecos como países frontera, entre el norte y el sur global, los ha vuelto dos países estratégicos, no solo por el intenso flujo transnacional de capitales provenientes de Estados Unidos y la Unión Europea; sino también como laboratorios donde se han implementado políticas transnacionales de seguridad, orientadas a contener las amenazas que pueden vulnerar el norte global. En el escenario regional, la política de seguridad migratoria que se vive en Marruecos y México, da cuenta de los procesos y relaciones geoeconómicas y políticas de corte transnacional entre el norte y sur global. En este trabajo se analizaron los efectos de la política de seguridad migratoria llevada a cabo en los últimos años en las fronteras México-Estados Unidos y Marruecos-España-Unión Europea, mostrando una tendencia común basada en la securitización y en el detrimento de las libertades y de los derechos de las poblaciones migrantes o refugiadas.
