Riassunto:The paper examines, with data from the second quarter of 2019, the determinants of the probability of having a quality job in the six entities that make up the northern border of Mexico. To this goal, probit models were estimated in which the dependent variable was quality employment and the independent variables were schooling, sex, marital status and experience of the worker, as well as the size of the economic unit, type of locality and sector of activity. One result that stands out is that, in five of the six border states analyzed, the most important variable for obtaining quality employment is the size of the economic unit. The findings are limited by the temporality of the information used; however, they are original, contribute to the existing literature and can be taken into account to develop public policies aimed at creating quality jobs in the region under study.
