Therefore, the purpose of this work is to reflect on the deepening of inequality in a rural community in the state of Oaxaca, for this, the challenges and difficulties in health and education faced by the population of the municipality of San Miguel Coatlán are analyzed. Oaxaca, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The empirical research was carried out in situ, through interviews with municipal authorities and mothers of families living in the municipal seat. El desarrollo en México como en otros países se enmarca por procesos de transformación económica en el mundo, por ende, el desarrollo en contextos rurales da cuenta de diferentes momentos históricos, mismos que pasaron del intento de modernizar el campo a los dogmas neoliberales, lo cual dejó consecuencias en las familias rurales, principalmente del sur de México, ya que el proceso neoliberal consistió principalmente en disminuir los apoyos y subsidios, lo cual provocó crisis económica y social en las familias campesinas, por ende se profundizó la desigualdad en las zonas rurales lejos de impulsar su desarrollo económico. Por tanto, el propósito de este trabajo es reflexionar sobre la profundización de la desigualdad en una comunidad rural del estado de Oaxaca, para ello se analizan los retos y dificultades en materia de salud y educación que enfrenta la población del municipio de San Miguel Coatlán, Oaxaca, en el contexto de la pandemia de COVID-19. La investigación empírica se realizó in situ, a través de entrevistas realizadas a las autoridades municipales y a madres de familia que viven en la cabecera municipal.
