La igualdad de género en México está garantizada expresamente en la Constitución de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, en las leyes que derivan de la misma, así como en los tratados internacionales y demás instrumentos jurídicos celebrados por nuestro país. No obstante, y a pesar de ello, en la actualidad subsiste una amplia brecha entre la legalidad y la realidad en materia de igualdad de géneros, circunstancia muchas veces propiciada por las mismas mujeres.
