The objective of this research was to establish the evidences of validity and reliability that support the use of the Scale of Academic Procrastination in a Mexican student population. To achieve this goal, this scale was applied to a sample of 361 high school students from a Technological and Industrial Baccalaureate Center and Services of the city of Durango, in Durango, Mexico. From the results obtained in the Exploratory Factor Analysis and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis, two items of the scale were eliminated and the resulting version showed better fit than the 12-item version; In both factor analyzes, the bifactorial structure of the scale was confirmed and an acceptable level of reliability was obtained. La Procrastinación Académica es una variable que afecta la eficacia del sistema educativo al influir en la retención y permanencia regular del alumno en las instituciones educativas; así mismo, afecta el rendimiento académico y el bienestar psicológico del propio alumno. El objetivo de esta investigación fue establecer las evidencias de validez y confiabilidad que respaldan el uso de la Escala de Procrastinación Académica en una población estudiantil mexicana. Para el logro de este objetivo se aplicó dicha escala a una muestra de 361 alumnos de educación media superior de un Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico e Industrial y de Servicios de la ciudad de Durango, en Durango, México. A partir de los resultados obtenidos en el Análisis Factorial Exploratorio y el Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio se eliminaron dos ítems de la escala y la versión resultante mostró mejor ajuste que la versión de 12 ítems; en ambos análisis factoriales se confirmó la estructura bifactorial de la escala y se obtuvo un nivel de confiablidad aceptable.
