Shrnutí: | The perception and level of digital skills of university students is a topic of current interest, as it has been documented that a gender digital divide exists. The aim of this paper was to determine the existence of a digital divide among university students, according to their perception, by gender. A quantitative, cross-sectional research was carried out during February 2021, to know the self-perception of digital competences of the students of Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), segmenting it by gender: male, female and member of the LGBTI community. The dimensions of Information, Communication, and Content Creation of the DIGCOMP 1.0 instrument were considered. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed, and the data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis H-hypothesis non-parametric statistical test. Men and members of the LGBTI community self-perceived themselves as having better digital skills than women in the use of computers. It is convenient to determine whether this was just self-perception or if there is a gender digital divide. Intervention programs are needed to improve digital skills across the entire university student population. |
