Tutoring emerges as a strategic response to such challenges, when used as a compliment in the comprehensive formation of students, facilitating their insertion in the academic and work environment. There is an area of opportunity to promote a formative action and integration academic activities through tutoring. In this study, the nature of the functions of the tutor in the teaching practice is analyzed to improve the academic performance. The objective of the research is to define strategies for the efficient integration of academic tutoring. The case study includes students enrolled in the accounting, administration and IT careers in the School of Commerce and Administration Victoria, in the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas. Uno de los desafíos de la Educación Superior es disminuir la deserción, el rezago y los bajos índices de eficiencia terminal. La tutoría surge como respuesta estratégica a tales desafíos, al utilizarse como complemento en la formación integral de los estudiantes, facilitando su inserción en el ámbito académico y laboral. Existe un área de oportunidad para propiciar la acción formativa y promover la ntegración de los estudiantes en las actividades académicas universitarias a través de la tutoría. En este trabajo se analiza la naturaleza de las funciones del tutor en la práctica docente para mejorar el rendimiento académico. El objetivo de la investigación es definir estrategias para la integración eficiente de la tutoría académica. Se toma como caso de estudio a los estudiantes de las carreras de Contaduría, Administración e Informática de la Facultad de Comercio y Administración Victoria, dependiente de la Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas.
