This work is the result of a qualitative research of documentary type, which aims to analyze some dimensions of teaching practice: conceptualization, policies, regulations, guidelines, approaches and evaluation criteria. It was found that, in different historical moments, the Ministry of Public Education has developed laws and regulations to evaluate teachers’ practice, in order to raise the quality of education; the vision of educational authorities has focused mainly on the dimensions of pedagogical knowledge and didactic practice of teaching, leaving aside the social and interpersonal dimension of teachers’ professional practice. El estudio se enmarca en la línea de investigación de la práctica docente es una labor compleja que requiere de un análisis que incluya las diferentesdimensiones que la componen. El presente trabajo es el resultado de una investigación de tipo cualitativa de corte documental, que tiene por objetivo analizar algunas dimensiones de la práctica docente: conceptualización, políticas, normativas, lineamientos, enfoques y criterios de evaluación. Se encontró que, la Secretaría de Educación Pública ha desarrollado, en diferentes momentos históricos, leyes y reglamentos para evaluar la práctica del docente, con el finde elevar la calidad de la educación; la visión de las autoridades educativas se ha enfocado principalmente en las dimensiones del saber pedagógico y de la práctica didáctica del quehacer docente, dejando fuera la dimensión social e interpersonal de la práctica profesional de los maestros.
