Description
Summary:By relying on a prospective methodology, four future scenarios of Mexican public university are presented. The key variables considered for the construction of the scenarios are the social mission and autonomy. These resulted from the literature review related to the debates of the impact of neoliberalism on the public universities. The results are discussed under the light of the contributions regarding change from the institutional and new sociological institutionalism views. It is concluded that, the possibilities that each public university in Mexico has to situate in one of the four scenarios proposed, will depend on both, the endogenous characteristics of each organization and the exogenous conditions associated to the politic and economic dynamics.
